From director Davis Guggenheim, An Inconvenient Truth is a passionate and inspirational look at former Vice President Al Gore's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. In this intimate portrait of Gore and his "traveling global warming show," Gore comes across as never before in the media - funny, engaging, open and intent on alerting citizens to this "planetary emergency" before it's too late. Interspersed with the bracing facts and future predictions is the story of Gore's personal journey: from an idealistic college student who first saw a massive environmental crisis looming; to a young Senator facing a harrowing family tragedy that altered his perspective; to the man who almost became President but instead returned to the most important cause of his life. With an emphasis on hope, An Inconvenient Truth ultimately shows us that global warming is no longer a political issue but rather, the biggest moral challenge facing our civilization today. After having its U.S. debut at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival and international premiere at Cannes, An Inconvenient Truth opened to rave reviews and enthusiastic audiences everywhere. A smash hit, the film went on to win Academy Awards?for Best Documentary feature and Best Song. It also became a global phenomenon, one of the highest grossing documentaries of all time with a worldwide audience estimated at 5 million people.

Germany has already gone further than anyone else in encouraging renewable energy. By 2050, 50% of its energy could come from renewable sources. But what's the real cost of its energy revolution? Germany's landmark EEG law forces power stations to buy electricity at above markets rates from anyone using renewable energy to generate it. "It's the beginning of an energy revolution", raves politician Herman Scheer. In the village of Juhnde, residents now produce their own electricity from manure. "We are independent of international oil prices", raves one local. The scheme has been so successful that 30 other villages plan to copy them. But power companies blame the EEG law for Germany's expensive electricity bills and claim it makes some German industries uncompetitive.

In the past few years, a hurricane has engulfed the debate about global warming. This scientific issue has become a rhetorical firestorm with science pitted against spin and inflammatory words on both sides. This documentary shows how fossil fuel corporations have kept the global warming debate alive long after most scientists believed that global warming was real and had potentially catastrophic consequences. It shows that companies such as Exxon Mobil are working with top public relations firms and using many of the same tactics and personnel as those employed by Phillip Morris and RJ Reynolds to dispute the cigarette-cancer link in the 1990s. Exxon Mobil sought out those willing to question the science behind climate change, providing funding for some of them, their organizations and their studies.
The Global Warming Swindle Link 1
Length: 1:15.56
A totally unscientific criticism of the science behind global warming. The only merit of this video is to show how global warming sceptics make up spurious arguments through a selective interpretation of the data and half-truths. So this video has to be seen with the debate that followed:
